CultureALL Open Book Program

Inspired by the international Human Library project, Open Book is a community project from CultureALL that creates connections and builds social cohesion through story sharing events where “Books” are people and You are the “Reader.” Open Book’s unique format inspires dialogue and creates emotional connections between people – even when they have differing viewpoints.

We will have two “Books” at our event: Tone The MoveMaker and Shuang Nozomi Flyr.

Tone The MoveMaker is a street hustler from Chicago’s Southside, who has found his calling as an artist and designer in Mainframe Studios in downtown Des Moines. His mission is to help others turn their struggles into their strengths. 

Shuang Nozomi Flyr was born in Shanghai and grew up partly in China and partly in Japan. After experiencing the chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic, she moved to Iowa with her husband and daughter two years ago. Today, she works as a relationship banker with Bank of America. Shuang Nozomi believes in the power of storytelling.
